Small river at Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman mosque

Also close to the mosque is a small river flowing into the Kapuas river.

This is the bridge one needs to use to get to the mosque.

A look downstream from the bridge. That's the city of Pontianak in the background.

A look upstream. There is a village with pathways on wooden stilts around.

Next, we went to the nearby royal mosque. Look at Masjid Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman Al-Qadri pada siang hari (Mosque of Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman Al-Qadri at daytime) in the blogspot SENI LAMA MELAYU (MALAY OLDEN ART). From the left side of the mosque you could see a jetty.

It overlooks the Kapuas river, the longest river in the whole of Kalimantan, in fact whole of Indonesia...

A look downstream. The river mouth is about 20 km away.

A look across shows a portion of the city of Pontianak.

A look upstream. The river twists and turns some 1,000 km more inland.

Views from second level of Istana Qadriah

Peace be upon you all. Going to the 5th and last day of the recent West Kalimantan trip...

Friday morning 12th June 2015. We went to Istana Qadriah, palace of the kingdom of Pontianak.

Going up to the second level of the palace there is a verandah overlooking the surroundings...

I started looking from right to left...

That's our car down there. It was raining cats and dogs...
