Mekong river from southern side of Kampong Cham town

At a southern side of Kampong Cham town we stopped by for a drink.

It is a promenade facing the Mekong river...

Going down for views from the river surface level...

Views from the French tower at Kampong Cham

Close to the bridge lies a tower built by the French.

For information the French used to rule over Cambodia 1863 till 1953.

This tower was actually a lighthouse built by them.

Here are views from its highest floor...

That's the wife and kids waiting on the tuk tuk below as I continue to enjoy the views around...

Mekong river from a part across Kampong Cham town

We visited this mosque situated across the Mekong river from Kampong Cham town.

Behind it there is a path leading to the riverside.

Have to cross this smaller river first...

On to the Mekong river.

A look upriver...

A look across towards Kampong Cham town...

A look downriver...

Continuing from Early look at Kampong Cham.

Later in the afternoon we took the tuk tuk to a bridge crossing the Mekong river.

It connects the town of Kampong Cham to a rural area across...

At an estimated length of 4,350 km Mekong is the world's twelfth longest river.

Zooming in while looking back at Kampong Cham.

Here more than 400 km inland it is around 1-1.5 km wide...
