Prawn ponds at the site of Samudera-Pasai kingdom centre

Peace be upon you Friday 5th of the Muslim month of Safar. Just something from the 6th day of the Aceh and north Sumatera trip 28th August - 4th September.


While looking for the tomb of a certain prominent olden person we came across these ponds.





If not mistaken it is for rearing freshwater prawns.





There are many in this area which is part of the centre of the olden Islamic kingdom of Samudera-Pasai...

A hazy Perak river from a floating restaurant in Teluk Intan

Wednesday morning 18th September 2019. After spending the night at a mosque in Kampung Gajah I went to Teluk Intan and stopped by this place.


It is a floating restaurant set on the Perak river.


I am not sure if it was already opened or a work in progress. But it was definitely not in business during this hour.


What I am interested are views of the Perak river from here.


It's just it was hazy, a condition which has been plaguing most of west coast Peninsular Malaysia since the last one week or so...

Views from the Islamic Monument of Samudera Pasai

Peace be upon you. Just one article from the 5th day of the Aceh and north Sumatera round trip 28 August till 4 September...


Sunday1st September 2019. In the morning we arrived at the village of Beuringin near Geudong Lhokseumawe where was situated centre of the olden Islamic kingdoms of Samudera and Pasai.


In the evening we were shown this tall building.





Called the Islamic Monument of Samudera Pasai it is not yet completed.








But already it is an attraction giving superb views of the surroundings...
