Ipoh railway station

Continued from The new but boring train stations between Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh.

Ipoh was our stop. The idea is to spend sometime here before taking the midnight train all the way to Malaysia's border at Padang Besar, the northenmost point on the West Coat route and on to Hatyai in Thailand.

This allows us to have a better look at the Ipoh station...

Interesting is the combination of the old and new, a quality which could be easily seen from inside a train. The old train station from the British colonial days has always been considered a proud landmark. The new roofing was made different from the ones available at say Tanjung Malim and Tapah Road making it a distinctive quality all by itself...

Time to have a look inside...

The waiting hall...

A poster promoting Perak's places of interest on the wall...

This is the corridor outside...

Ipoh train station from one side...

A look closer to the centre...

A landmark which makes many Ipoh citizens proud.
