After visiting another mosque in town we went out of Rantau Panjang to visit the (then) new big mosque known as Masjid Beijing.
It is called Masjid (mosque of) Beijing because it is designed with old Chinese architecture as can be found in old buildings at China's capital city of Beijing. Specifically for this blogspot I would like to show pictures taken from its call to prayer tower.
Mind you the tower is actually off limits to the public. Just look at the steel ladders leading up the darkness to get to the top. Only maintance personals with safety gears are actually allowed up.
But for you dear readers I would risk life and limb to get a look at things. That's my then 8-years old stepson down there. At first he though he wanted to follow me up. But upon climbing up the ladder (which tends to sway to and fro when applied with weight) up to the first level he found himself not up to it and so retreated.
Here's a picture as I reached out for the uppermost level.
Here's a look down. Just look at how dark it is. And I found the ladder ( or rather ladders, there's a number of it) very slippery at some parts.
Room on top is very tight.
It was only through the tight spaces between hailers that I could look out.

Moving in to another window clockwise and zooming in, I could see the Malaysian immigration checkpoint to enter Thailand.
Imagine having to move yourselves through this tight area to get the pictures. Never ever forget the hole for it is like 30 metres or more to the ground...
