The new mosque in Chendering, Kuala Terengganu

At the southern fringe outside the city of Kuala Terengganu could be seen a new mosque being built.

I don't know if it has been completed. For the record these pictures were taken almost 8 months ago.

What is sure, it is an impressive mosque.

Its design is similar to Masjid Abidin also known as the white mosque in mid city Kuala Terengganu which I understand is the royal mosque.

So it makes me wonder why this similar mosque was being built some 9 km further.

  1. The UMNO/BN government had gone beyond the inital expenditure to construct this mosque after demolishing an historical mosque.Wood from the old mosque were shared by the committee members when it could have been used in the new mosque. The mosque had different contractors and the delay is on purpose. The number of workers from outside does not depict the urgency to finish. This is mainly because Chendering is no more the fort of UMNO but PAS.The people of Chendering had been divided from time memorial due to political differences.Allah is pushed aside and the politics of the day comes first. When PAS took over the state this mosque was the focus where the imams were from the opposition but when UMNO won it went back to its former. Those who drew the plan for the mosque are very stupid and immmature as they did not understand that it is Chendering and not Kuala terengganu. The architecture is not suited for the place. They just borrowed and never knew the pulse of the people of Chendering. The mosque will be ready next year and that time PAS would have taken the state. At present the other mosque is PAS's and soon another mosque will be added.UMNO supporters will not pray thus defeating the very idea of Islam.

  2. Thanks for the input. It is unfortunate to hear about the actual circumstances behind the building of the mosque. I'm dumbfounded really...
