Sunset from Selat Melaka mosque



After we're done at Bandar Hilir we decided to go to the Selat Melaka (Straits of Melaka) mosque.





Lying on a man-made island extending 300 metres and out from the mainland the mosque offers vantage views of the straits.


As it extends westwards this is also a good place to catch the sunset.





So while the crew worked on catching a time lapse recording of the sun going down I stayed on at the furthest extend of the mosque watching the open waters and the sky...

From the hill I walked down on to the red building known as the Stadthuys, a leftover from the Dutch occupations days some 300 years ago.


In front, across the street is this portion of the Melaka river. Here's a look upstream...

Returning to the storytelling on Melaka. Continuing from Silat shooting under sunset in front of Pulau Besar.


The following day we continued shooting around St. Paul's Hill, originally known as Bukit (hill of) Melaka.


The Melaka sultanate palace used to lie on top of the hill. It offers a wide view of the surroundings including that of the trading ships which used to ply the open waters of the Straits of Melaka...
