The estuary that gave rise to the name Kuala Sungai Baru

Exploring the surroundings, I came across what is mentioned as a complex for grilled fish.

I went in and found a restaurant along with a motel of sorts.

But I also found that it leads to the estuary of a river.

For the record the name of this area is Kuala Sungai Baru. Kuala means estuary and Sungai means river. So Kuala Sungai Baru means estuary of the Baru river.

There is a bridge outside the complex and I decided to cross it.

Views of the Baru river from the bridge...

Then I took a drive along the river...

The waters off a village at Kuala Sungai Baru

Peace be upon you all. From Perak we move on to Melaka. But still on activities made from last Saturday till the recent Wednesday. Continuing from Perak river at Temong during low water

I returned home from Kuala Kangsar late night on Sunday. The following afternoon I drove to Kuala Sungai Baru in Melaka to become a panelist at a forum held at a college there. I was given a nice homestay to rest at. Here's a view out from the homestay Tuesday morning 27th September 2016.

It is situated at a village facing the open waters of the Straits of Melaka.

Enjoying the views of around...

Perak river at Temong during low water

Still on recent days' activities. Continuing from Stopping by at Tanjung Malim for a rock consert.

We arrived in Kuala Kangsar late Saturday night. After lodging at a surau (small praying hall) in Temong, the following Sunday morning we visited the tomb of a saint known as Tok Temong nearby . Besides the tomb lies this staircase. It leads to a small jetty besides the Perak river.

Now. I have been here many many times before. But I can't remember seeing the water level this low.

As I remembered it, these stones down these steps are normally submerged.

And the pebbles and small stones at the shore across... I can'r remember ever seeing in previous visits.

Compare to what's shown in the article Perak river from Temong...

Well, it's not like I've never seen the Perak river here at low level at all. It's just I haven't seen it so low such that stones which used to be submerged protruded out the way it did that day...

Stopping by at Tanjung Malim for a rock consert

After we're done in Kuala LumpUr we headed home. Then I parted ways with the family to join a friend going to Kuala Kangsar in Perak.

On the way we made a detour to the town of Tanjung Malim.

We went to a place called Sarang Art Hub, formerly the rest house of Tanjung Malim.

The place is now run by famous Malay movies director, Mr Mamat Khalid (on the left).

He has turned the rest house into  a sort of hip cafe supported by arts and cultural activities.

That day. Saturday 24th September a rock concert was held featuring 15 bands...

Some of the bands covered songs from my teenage days and on, the 80s and 90s. That got me really nostalgic and we stayed on for some time...

Melaka Sultanate theme wedding at mid KL

From Taman Tasik Perdana we rushed to the middle of Kuala Lumpur city and got on top of a shopping complex.

The next function to be attended lies inside a hotel on top of the complex.

It is a wedding held at the hotel hall.

The theme was Melaka Sultanate and attendees were expected to don traditional Malay clothing that reminds one of the golden days of old...
