Hatyai central weekend night market

Returning to Hatyai city centre we immediately head for the weekend night market.

Held on weekends at a main street it is an unavoidable attraction in central Hatyai...

Roads are closed and traffic redirected to make way...

One should spend time to visit and savour the night...

Khlong Hae floating market at night

From Lam Pam we returned to Patthalung town in time to take the 2.20 pm train to Hatyai. At night we went to the Khlong Hae floating market just outside Hatyai city.

Unlike at Lam Pam where the so-called 'floating market' is actually stalls on an island (refer to Morning visit to Lam Pam 'Floating Market') here they have a proper floating market made up of small boats selling food berthed alongside a river...

Approaching the boats alias floating stalls...

There are also stalls on land making up the whole floating market complex...

For the record we have been here once before at the end of 2018. But that was during daytime. Look at the article Klong Hae floating market.

Lam Pam river behind Phattalung palace

Continuing from True attraction of Lam Pam.

About 1.5 km towards Phattalung town lies an old wooden palace which used to belong to the rulers of the province.

Behind it is a brick palace which also used to belong to the rulers.

Behind the brick palace is the Lam Pam river which flows into the big lake besides the 'floating market'...

True attraction of Lam Pam

Actually the true attraction of Lam Pam lies in its location besides a giant freshwater lake.

It is so vast that it looks like a sea.

For more pictures of the lake and from a number of viewing points look at the following articles made after our first visit towards the end of 2017...

Morning visit to Lam Pam 'Floating Market'

After resting at the hotel I brought the family to Lam Pam about 8 km to the east of Phattalung town.

We wanted to see what is called the Lam Pam (also spelled Lampam) Floating Market.

According to information given it is opened every Saturday and Sunday 10am till 8pm.

When we arrived after crossing a bridge 10.12am there wasn't much life...

Perhaps we arrived too early. Maybe the action starts in the evening.

What is certain it is not a floating market in the usual sense of the term. It is just a market which happened to be located on an island besides a big lake.

Phattalung from the highest point at Ho Fah Hotel

Continuing from Phattalung railway station.

Returning to the place we lodged at called Ho Fah Hotel.

I went to the highest floor to the catch Phattalung town's overall view...

Not satisfied I searched for an even higher point...

There. You cannot go any higher at this hotel...

And you can hardly see any higher viewing point around, at least not man-made...
