Continuing from The beach at Pulau Sayak.
From Pulau Sayak I went to Kampung (village of) Bukit Meriam with the intention of climbing the hill that is Bukit Meriam from that side.
However to my dismay I found the approach from that side as marked in Google Map as practically nonexistent.
Perhaps there used to be a path now covered by growths and bushes. Perhaps whoever marked it in Google Map got it wrong.
Whatever, I found out from a local at that side, the western side of the hill, that the right approach is actually from the eastern side.
Thank God I managed to find it based on the local's description on how to get there.
It was just rain was starting as I got towards the path. In no time it became very heavy coupled with thunder and strong winds.
Luckily there is a praying hall which gave shelter.
Still, I had to wait for more than an hour before the rain lessened enough to start ascending up the hill.
There is a big open area at the summit, about 110 metres above sea level...
