On to Kuala Selangor's Bukit Raja

Continuing from First visit to Bukit Melawati for the year 2026.

Next we went to this small hill called Bukit Raja, a few kilometres north of Kuala Selangor town.

Literarily translated Bukit Raja means "hill of the king". But in Malay culture the word Raja also applies to names of princes, even the general royalty.

There are other places called Bukit Raja in Malaysia. This one refers specifically to a prince named Raja Nala.

He was the Raja Muda, the regent of Selangor when his elder brother Sultan Ibrahim was the 2nd Sultan of Perak.

This small hill used to house his place.

But he himself passed away in Aceh and was laid to rest there.
