On to Tanjung Pagar

Continued from Views around the causeway from the train.

After going through the immigration check at Woodlands we were officially in Singapura.

The train continued to the main and southernmost station of Tanjung Pagar while I tried to record views on the way as much as possible.

You see in half a year's time the Tanjung Pagar station would be closed making Woodlands the first and last station in Singapura on the train route from Malaysia.

I understand the reserve land where the railway tracks lie, a strip of land practically cutting the island of Singapura into half but belonging to Malaysia would be developed more in favour of the host nation.

Thus this train trip is also a look at history and would be history.

For the record the island of Singapura used to be part Malaysia and before that part of the empire of Johor which then also included parts of Indonesia.

Anyway it was in this trip that I first saw landed property or private houses in the island.

In all my previous trips I only saw people living in high-rise flats. This is how it looks as we approached city centre.
