Catching sunrise over Borobudur from the peak of Setumbu

Back to Indonesia and the vicinity of Borobudur. Continuing from Servants from heaven and Solomon's last stand?.

Early Sunday morning, 27th September 2014 we started climbing a hill in the dark.

We have spent the night at a resort near the temple of Borobudur. Now we want to have a look at the temple from the peak of a hill called Setumbu.

We reached the peak at around 5 am local time. In Malaysia it should be 6 am while the daylight/darkness should be equivalent to 6.30 am, maybe 6.45 or more as Borobudur and Jogja is about that much closer to sunrise.

Mind you the scene was actually darker than shown in the pix. This is because the camera had at least a second of exposure allowing pictures to gather more light.

Even then you can see many up here...

This was just 3 minutes later. Seems like sunrise is approaching...

For some time the peak of Setumbu became a popular place for witnessing beautiful sunrise over the temple...

It's just we came at a time when the clouds were rather thick.

Still everyone waited for the sun to take a peek...

Ah. Rays of hope showing.

Too bad that lasted just a few seconds. I spent an hour here and this is the best pix I could get... that's Borobudur in the middle...
