On to Indrapatra and Iskandar Muda forts

Continuing from Visiting the Tsunami Museum.

Later in the afternoon we headed some 20 km to the east out of Banda Aceh to visit the fort of Indrapatra.

The fort is said to be in existence since 6th century AD. But renovations were made leading to its current look especially in the early 17th century, when the famous Sultan Iskandar Muda Mahkota Alam ruled Aceh.

I have been here 2-3 times before. So this latest visit was more for the benefit of the group of young researchers who came with me from Malaysia.

The said group posing for their record...

Next we went to the Iskandar Muda fort about 7 kilometres further.

The group posing again. By then they were already overwhelmed by the richness of history Aceh has to offer...
