Johor Lama to Bukit Seluyut by boat

After everyone involved in the function were on board its time for the boat to move.

The function is actually a boat ride along the Johor river with everyone in traditional Malay attire.

Apart from that we want to visit historical places which used to be centres of administration for the old Johor kingdom. True to history when waterways were the highways, the centres or what's left of it are much more accesible by boat.

From Johor Lama which is situated about 13 km from the Johor river mouth we moved upstream. At this point the river which can go as wide as 4 km began to significantly taper down in width. Ahead I could see an island. A check with Google Earth shows at this juncture we have travelled about 8 km.

Going further upstream, the boat passed the left side of the island,

A smaller island came into view...

Next we could see what looked like a luxurious bungalow and a ship.

We we told it is actually a golf clubhouse.

Going further, a hill called Bukit Seluyut came into view.

That is our destination but before that we have to properly negotiate this part of the Johor river and land at the nearby jetty...
