The sand island at Pulau Pasir Mandi



From Gunung Senyum I decided to continue going southwards following a rural road that goes alongside the Pahang river. Then I saw this part and decided to have a better look.


From afar it looks like evidence that the Pahang river here is indeed much below normal level.


The sandbank across looks like an indication.





But upon closer scrutiny and after asking a local I was told the Pahang river here normally looks like this. And the 'sandbank' is actually an island in the middle of the river. It gives rise to the name Pulau Pasir Mandi (literarily, island of the sand for taking a dip, a bath?) which is the name of the nearby village...
