Peace be upon you all. On to the 5th day of the Sumatera trip 25 January - 1 February...
Sunday 29th January 2017. I have spent the night at a mosque some 20 km before Muara Takus wondering how to get there when I woke up. Thank God after the Subuh (early morning) prayers I met a local who offered to bring me there in his pick-up car. After spending some time at his house then having breakfast at a nearby stall we moved on to Muara Takus.
We passed a number of villages on the way...
At some parts the road was misty.
Then there are the rough parts. Thank God we're on a tough four wheel-drive pick-up...
I was told the villages seen along the way used to be situated besides the Kampar river.
In the 80s a dam was erected at a downriver part causing a big lake to form and drown the original sites. So some of the villages were relocated to this road...
Closing in on Muara Takus.
It has old temples said to have been built sometime in the 7th century AD...
