Kedah side of Kuala Muda

Continuing from The river that gave Sungai Petani its name.

From Sungai Petani I headed to the village of Kuala Muda.

Kuala means estuary and Muda is the name of a river.

From the estuary you could see the island of Pulau Pinang.

The beach besides the estuary...

For the record the name Pulau Pinang also refers to a state of which more than half is situated on the mainland of Peninsular Malaysia.

The Muda river is a natural border between that state and Kedah.

The name Kuala Muda is also used in Pulau Pinang as it refers to the same river mouth.

Here we are looking at the river from the Kedah state side...
