Lake Banding during dry season

Tonight, the 3rd of January 2013 or 3/1/13 I thought it nice to write new articles. As it is I have already started a new series in my main blogspot CATATAN SI MERAH SILU, a series about a recent travel made to Kota Bahru in the state of Kelantan and from there on to the island of Langkawi in Kedah. So here is the first supporting article on this blogspot.

Sunday 9th December 2012 after spending a night in Kota Bahru where I gave a lecture on the coming of Islam to the Malay Archipelago at a major mosque I took the family heading for the island of Langkawi some 400 km journey towards the west. We passed by lake Banding on the way and decided to make a stop.

If I'm not mistaken this is the second biggest man-made lake in Malaysia.

What I find amusing is the contrast compared to a visit made 8 months earlier.

Then the lake was so full of water that it flooded rendering the walking path seen here underwater. Have a look at the article Entry point to the Royal Belum forest.

In this trip it is clear that it was dry season.

Looking at the reddish exposed parts of land around I could surmise the water level is below normal by about 5-10 feet under.
