This blogspot is a medium to share my thoughts and adventures apart from promoting my books. Below are the books which have been written or authored and published by myself.

"Berpetualang ke Aceh: Mencari Diri dan Erti".

ISBN 983-42031-0-1, Jun 2006

"Berpetualang ke Aceh: Membela Syiar yang Asal"

ISBN 983-42031-1-x, May 2007

"Berpetualang ke Aceh: Sirih Pulang ke Gagang?"

ISBN 978-983-42031-2-2, November 2007

It is interesting to note that while these books were written in Malay it has gained enough attention to merit being part of the collections of the American Library of Congress and National Library of Australia. Look here and here.

While the first three books were published by my own company, the fourth titled "Rumah Azan" was published in April 2009 by a company called Karnadya with the help of the Malaysian national literary body Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. It features beautiful pictures along with stories behind selected mosques which could be related to the history of Islam and the Malays alongside the formation of the Malaysian nation. Look at the article A collaboration of old collegemates - the book "Rumah Azan".

My fifth book "Ahlul Bait (Family) of Rasulullah SAW and Malay Sultanates", an English translation and adaptation of the Malay book "Ahlul Bait (Keluarga) Rasulullah SAW dan Kesultanan Melayu" authored by Hj Muzaffar Mohamad and Tun Suzana Othman was published early 2010. Look here... My 5th book is out! Ahlul Bait (Family) of Rasulullah SAW and the Malay Sultanates... . For more information check out my Malay blogspot CATATAN SI MERAH SILU.

Like my fourth book "Rumah Azan", the sixth book "Kereta Api Menuju Destinasi" is also a coffee-table book which is published by the company Karnadya with the cooperation of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (the main Malay literary body in Malaysia). Coming out January 2011 it features pictures and stories on the adventure travelling by train to all of Peninsular Malaysia along with the interesting places which could be reached this way.

My seventh book "Jejak keluarga Yakin : Satu sketsa sejarah" in turn is a coffee-table book which is written, editted, designed and has pictures taken by me. Coming out of the factory October 2011, this book which combines family history with history of places such as Singapura, Johor, Batu Pahat, Muar and in fact the history of the island of Java and England has been reviewed with me interviewed live in the program Selamat Pagi Malaysia at RTM1. Look at the article Siaran langsung ulasan buku "Jejak keluarga Yakin : Satu sketsa sejarah" dan temu ramah di Selamat Pagi Malaysia. Some selected contents have been featured in Sneak peek "Jejak keluarga Yakin : Satu sketsa sejarah".

Perlis in one day!

OK... Continuing from the Langkawi story. Instead of heading back to Kuala Kedah, I decided to get back to the mainland through another door, that is through Kuala Perlis. The last time I was in Perlis, the smallest state in Malaysia was about 10 years ago and since I was somewhere near with a bit of time to spare, might as well pay a visit...

So there I was in the ferry for Kuala Perlis. Seen in the background is the island of Langkawi left behind!

The mainland beckons...

Soon enough, the jetty of Kuala Perlis came in sight...

Since I'm already in Kuala Perlis, might as well walk around and have a look at the town. Anyway, I've got to get to the main bus-stop if I want to get the bus to Kangar, the capital of Perlis less than 20km away...

Saw this bridge from another jetty for fishermen along the river Perlis. Felt like walking to the other side to see what's there... It's just that dusk was already approaching and I must get to Kangar soon...

Snapped this picture before heading for the main bus-stop...

Waited for what felt like ages at the main bus-stop to no avail. I became restless... Decided to walk out of town on the road to Kangar. At least I was getting nearer right? Saw this bus-stop which I thought looked quite interesting...

To cut the story short, I got a bus to Kangar and spent the night at a hotel. This picture was taken the next day, 25th January 2007...

A view of the town of Kangar...

A monument of a sword criss-crossed with a keris, the Malay wavy blade to signify the bravery of Perlis Malays... At least that's what I think so...

Now, one of the reason I went to Kangar was that a few days ago, someone in Yan, Kedah told me that if I should ever visit Perlis, then find a certain man at a certain place accesible through Kangar... I studied the map at shops and checked the bus route and schedule... Sure, I could get there and find the man but the problem was, I'm supposed to join a gathering of people I know from an Internet forum. The gathering was to be held on 27th January 2007 which is 2 days away and the location is in Manjung, Perak more than 200km away. I also had one or two other places to visit especially Gunung (mount) Jerai in Kedah. Lately then, my heart yearned to climb to the top and spend a night there... So how could I make time?

The taxi-stand in Kangar.... Or was it another building nearby? What's sure, it has an interesting design.

While waiting for the bus at the main-stop heading for the place where a certain man resided as told by someone in Yan, then I got a message straight to heart... Don't worry about that man... Just head straight to Gunung Jerai... Next! :]
