This blogspot is a medium to share my thoughts and adventures apart from promoting my books. Below are the books which have been written or authored and published by myself.

"Berpetualang ke Aceh: Mencari Diri dan Erti".

ISBN 983-42031-0-1, Jun 2006

"Berpetualang ke Aceh: Membela Syiar yang Asal"

ISBN 983-42031-1-x, May 2007

"Berpetualang ke Aceh: Sirih Pulang ke Gagang?"

ISBN 978-983-42031-2-2, November 2007

It is interesting to note that while these books were written in Malay it has gained enough attention to merit being part of the collections of the American Library of Congress and National Library of Australia. Look here and here.

While the first three books were published by my own company, the fourth titled "Rumah Azan" was published in April 2009 by a company called Karnadya with the help of the Malaysian national literary body Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. It features beautiful pictures along with stories behind selected mosques which could be related to the history of Islam and the Malays alongside the formation of the Malaysian nation. Look at the article A collaboration of old collegemates - the book "Rumah Azan".

My fifth book "Ahlul Bait (Family) of Rasulullah SAW and Malay Sultanates", an English translation and adaptation of the Malay book "Ahlul Bait (Keluarga) Rasulullah SAW dan Kesultanan Melayu" authored by Hj Muzaffar Mohamad and Tun Suzana Othman was published early 2010. Look here... My 5th book is out! Ahlul Bait (Family) of Rasulullah SAW and the Malay Sultanates... . For more information check out my Malay blogspot CATATAN SI MERAH SILU.

Like my fourth book "Rumah Azan", the sixth book "Kereta Api Menuju Destinasi" is also a coffee-table book which is published by the company Karnadya with the cooperation of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (the main Malay literary body in Malaysia). Coming out January 2011 it features pictures and stories on the adventure travelling by train to all of Peninsular Malaysia along with the interesting places which could be reached this way.

My seventh book "Jejak keluarga Yakin : Satu sketsa sejarah" in turn is a coffee-table book which is written, editted, designed and has pictures taken by me. Coming out of the factory October 2011, this book which combines family history with history of places such as Singapura, Johor, Batu Pahat, Muar and in fact the history of the island of Java and England has been reviewed with me interviewed live in the program Selamat Pagi Malaysia at RTM1. Look at the article Siaran langsung ulasan buku "Jejak keluarga Yakin : Satu sketsa sejarah" dan temu ramah di Selamat Pagi Malaysia. Some selected contents have been featured in Sneak peek "Jejak keluarga Yakin : Satu sketsa sejarah".

The beach at Barus

Continuing from Early morning walk in Barus.

Barus is situated close to the sea.

At one part is a monument dedicated to the fact that Barus is known in world history for its production of quality camphor since thousands of years ago.

Behind it is a beach facing the Indian Ocean.

Enjoying the sea and its early morning breeze...

For the record this is the 2,002th article in this blogspot.

Early morning walk in Barus

Peace be upon you all. Moving on to the 4th day of the Aceh and north Sumatera round trip 28  August till 4 September .

Early Saturday morning 31st August 2019. Me and family have spent the night at the main mosque of Barus.

It is a small village town situated more than 700 km south-east of Banda Aceh. After I could see a bit of sun I took a walk to assess the surroundings...

New visit to Kuala Kangsar promenade besides the Perak river

I went to the Perak royal town of Kuala Kangsar to join a gathering of Malay traditional wear activists near these parts. So I took time to enjoy views of the Perak river.

I have been here many times and has wrote an article 2 years ago. Look at Perak river from Kuala Kangsar promenade. So let's just consider this as sharing from a new visit...

For the record this is the 2,000th article in this blogspot.

Down the Iskandar bridge off Kuala Kangsar

From the Victoria Bridge I took a small village road and came across this bridge.

It is the Sultan Iskandar bridge...

Built in year 1928 it is part of the old trunk road connecting Ipoh to Kuala Kangsar.

Perak river from Victoria Bridge

Peace be upon you. On to the 2nd day of the Perak round trip 15th-18th September.

Monday noon 16th September 2019. After spending the night at the surau (praying hall) of Kampung Temong, Kuala Kangsar I went to Kampung Seberang Karai to look at this bridge.

Called the Victoria Bridge and built in the year 1897 it is left unused after a new concrete bridge was built a number of years ago.

Locals use it to cross the Perak bridge to the town of Karai and fro. Enjoy the sights...

A look back towards where I started the cross, a village called Kampung Seberang Karai.

River besides tomb of Hamzah Fansuri at Kampung Oboh

Some 180 km journey from Tapak Tuan to the south-east lies the tomb of a prominent religious master and literary figure, Sheikh Hamzah Fansuri.

It is situated in the village of Kampung Oboh.

Besides the tomb complex is a fairly large river...

Dragon monuments of Tapak Tuan

According to the stories the giant foot print that is Tapak Tuan was formed by a hermit who jumped from a nearby mountain to the sea side.

He jumped because two dragons came and disturbed his meditation.

A statue of a dragon was made at a part of Tapak Tuan to reflect the stories or rather legend.

Another statue at another part even have a giant foot around it...
