The coastal route from Kelantan to Terengganu

Moving on to the 4th day of the recent East Coast trip. Continuing from Brunei mosque after more than 3 years.

Friday afternoon 2nd September 2016. After spending 3 nights at the religious school in Tumpat its time to leave the place and head for the state for Terengganu. Passing the city of Kota Bahru before heading towards Bachok we then closed in towards the coast of South China Sea going southwards.

About a few miles south of Tok Bali we stopped at a beach-side stall for late lunch. These pictures where taken as we continued back the drive...

Soon we could see the doorway marking entry to the state of Terengganu.

Next we crossed the bridge at Kuala Besut.

The journey was continued staying as close to the coast as possible via the closest trunk roads.

All in all I estimated some 150 km were travelled close to the coast that day. The weather was good and the views calming if not astounding. Whenever I'm not in a rush I chose to travel at such routes...

Brunei mosque after more than 3 years

On to the 3rd day of the recent East Coast trip. Continuing from Visiting tomb of Tok Selehor.

Thursday afternoon 1st September 2016. After having acquired some more religiouns lessons at the traditional school in Tumpat me and some friends decided to make a trip out to a mosque known as Masjid (mosque of Brunei).

To get there we travelled some 60 km from the school negotiating some rural roads.

I don't know if others felt the same but for me it is always worth the trouble to get to this mosque situated at an obscure location besides a lake known as Danau Tok Uban...

As always I took time to savour the atmosphere in and out of the mosque. For the record this is the 1,555th article in this blogspot.

Visiting tomb of Tok Selehor

Peace be upon you all. On 30th August me and a friend along with his sons made a trip to the East Coast and went around until 5th September. As always there were interesting places visited. Stories need to be shared and for this blogspot let's start with this one.

 

Lodging at a religious school in Tumpat, Kelantan to take some lessons along with a number of Malay activists friends we also took time to visit nearby places. Wednesday morning 31st August 2016, the 2nd day of the trip, while most of the nation was busy celebrating the Malaysian National Day we went out to another religious school known as Pondok (hut of) Tok Selehor.

We wanted to visit the tomb of Tok Selehor and a certain special place.

For the record Tok Selehor was a famous Kelantan religious master of saintly status.

His tomb...

Then there is this special place where he used to conduct spiritual training for himself and students.

It is a grave hole dug 6 foot under.

Surrounded by actual graves at all sides the hole is said to have been designed for initiates, even masters to get a glimpse of the hereafter...

A visit to Perodua's showroom in Rawang

Just something from a week ago.

Tuesday 23rd August 2016. For the first time ever I stepped into the Perodua showroom at its factory in Rawang, Selangor.

This factory is just about 7-8 km away from my house in Bandar Sungai Buaya. I have been into its premise a few times before but never into the showroom.

What made me go into the showroom this time was because I had my parents in tow...

It was the last day of their visit and stay at my house and before they returned home to Muar I thought why not let them have a look at the Perodua factory since it is so close to my house.

For those who has been living on Mars and such Perodua is the second national carmaker of Malaysia. Seen here is the 1st model, their very first Kancil which rolled out of the nearby assembly line in 1994.

This is the 500,000 Kancil which came out I don't know when, perhaps 4-5 years later.

The 1,000,000th Kancil...

Then there are the much later models which came out after the year 2000 if not mistaken...

Actually my father was considering whether to get the latest model Bezza which came out middle this year or the earlier model Alza which has been around the last 2 years or so.

Upon arriving at the showroom he said he was reminded of a visit made to the BMW showroom at its main factory in Germany some time earlier this year. Or was it last year?

My youngest sister's husband is with BMW Malaysia. But for the last 2 years or so he has been stationed at the head office in Germany. So my parents tagged along when my sister who is a medical doctor in Johor Bahru brought their kids to join the husband for a holiday there...
