Enter Taman Negara

Continued from Crossing the Tembeling river at Kuala Tahan.

Taking a staircase from the jetty one is already inside Taman Negara, the national park.

But the fron parts are just the local resort.

Visitors must register at the park centre before they can get further in.

Once registered for a small fee, one can practically go anywhere inside the park.

We decided to follow a foot path eastwards.

There is a certain place we have targetted.

There, our 2 plus year-old boy Johan crossing a big root on his own.

The root belongs to a giant tree...

We soon arrived at a part where there are many such trees...

After some time we arrived at our target.

Crossing the Tembeling river at Kuala Tahan

Continued from On to Kuala Tahan.

The Tembeling river is a main river which forms the Pahang river.

From here it twists and turns southwards for almost 50 km before flowing into the Jelai river, forming the Pahang river. Look at the old article Kuala Tembeling, the doorway to Taman Negara....

Once upon a time Kuala Tembeling was the only entry point from civilisation into Taman Negara, the National Park. From there one must travel by boat for up to 2 hours before they can get to the park.

This is before the road shown in the article On to Kuala Tahan  was opened, I was told about 9 years ago. From here we just need to cross the river to get to the park.

So there we were taking a boat across.

On to Kuala Tahan

Peace be upon you on this blessed Friday. Today I want to share a few more stories on a trip made last weekend. Continuing from Pahang river near Pulau Tawar old mosque.

From Pulau Tawar we headed to the town of Jerantut before entering the road to Kuala Tahan.

It is a rural place leading to Taman Negara, the National Park.

The road swerves through jungle and palm oil estates.

It also passed through I small town but I forgot to take pictures.

After an hour's drive we arrived at this gate.

I think it marks the sub-district border or something as there was still some distance to cover.

Soon we arrived at Kuala Tahan or rather Kampung (village of) Kuala Tahan.

Next we could see the Tembeling river. Across is Taman Negara.

Continued from Pahang river from the new bridge near Kuala Krau.

Later I went to a place called Pulau Tawar within the district of Jerantut. From the old mosque there (refer Masjid lama (Old mosque of) Pulau Tawar in the blogspot SENI LAMA MELAYU (MALAY OLDEN ART)) I caught sight of the Pahang river.

So I went for a closer look.

Pahang river from the new bridge near Kuala Krau

Something from a little trip to Jerantut, Pahang made over the weekend.

Three days ago me and family made a trip to Pulau Tawar, Jerantut to attend a function. Normally to get there one drives towards the town of Jerantut before crossing a bridge over the Pahang river as shown in the article Pahang river at Jerantut Ferry.

We however wanted to try a different route. There is a new bridge built near the small town of Kuala Krau halfway between Jerantut and the town of Temerloh. For the record, Temerloh is 60 km south of Jerantut. Before this you either cross the Pahang river via Temerloh or via Jerantut. Look at the article Pahang river near the Temerloh bridge.

Luckily the bridge is not busy. And there is enough space to park at the middle of the bridge.

A look downriver. I learned about the existence of this bridge went visiting a rather nearby tourist spot, nearby from here but quite a distance from both Jerantut and Temerloh. Look at the article The caves of Gunung Senyum made 2 years ago.

Then the bridge was said to have just been opened.

Back to the car for a look upriver...

p/s : I've just remembered. There is actually one more bridge crossing the Pahang river between Jerantut dan Temerloh. But that is part of the East Coast Highway passing some 7 km north of Temerloh and it is within a confined parameter. So there.

Perak river near junction to Kampung Terengganu

Continued from Visiting the Perak royal mausoleum after demise of a Sultan.

Later in the afternoon we went to Kampung (village of) Terengganu in Teluk Intan. Near the junction to the village lies this jetty.

It faces a wide part of the Perak river. This jetty is about 200-300 metres away from the mouth of the Bidor river as shown in the old article Confluence of 3 rivers in Teluk Intan....
